Should There Still be a Separate Office Space for a Restaurant in Japan

January 13, 2020

Question:

I plan to open a restaurant and then apply for the Business Manager resident status. In my case, do I still need to rent an office space separate from the restaurant itself?

Answer:

If the same restaurant is registered as the head office location, there is no need to secure a separate space to act as an office.

Explanation:

In the case of a restaurant, if the same restaurant store is registered as the legal entity’s head office, there is no need to secure a separate office location. For store-type of business, there needs to be a some sort of lease agreement for the store.
