New Alliance Member of RSM International

We are pleased to announce that as of November 1, 2022, RSM Shiodome Partners will be joining a new global accounting network RSM International, ranked 6th in the world according to a survey held by the International Accounting Bulletin in February 2022.
RSM is an International Accounting Network that was established in 1964 and currently has more than 860 offices in approximately 120 different countries with more than 51,000 members around the world. RSM Japan consists of 3 firms, the RSM Seiwa Audit Co. (Chairman: Hideyuki Toya) and RSM Tax Co. (Representative Partner: Akinaga Murayama) with the addition of RSM Shiodome Partners.
During the pandemic, many companies offered employees the option to work remotely while foreign affiliated companies offering convenient digital tools were beginning to expand their presence into Japan. We have seen a sharp increase in online spending in a time where consumer confidence was at an all-time low, and we have been noticing new trends in the markets like allowing consumers to flexibility to go cashless by implementing terminals with contactless payments. Many foreign companies can expect to enter the Japanese market during this trend which is highlighted as an important strategy in Japan to help revitalize the Japanese economy and employment. Our group has been supporting foreign companies to invest and expand their business in Japan and is in the process of further expanding our consulting services for companies entering the Japanese market.
At the same time, companies in Japan are also accelerating their plans to expand overseas. Professional firms are now required to provide accounting, tax, personnel and labor affairs, and legal services from a global perspective. In response to this changing environment, our group has sought to link up with a stronger international accounting network to meet the increasingly complex needs of our clients. Many of Japan’s leading tax accounting firms have already formed alliances with major international accounting firms as companies expanded overseas. We see that the rate at which clients are planning to expand overseas will further accelerate due to the shrinking domestic market and risk aversion caused by the fluctuations in exchange rates. That is why we felt it was essential to collaborate with an accounting network that has an even stronger presence.
